This sculptural work is an extension of Vita Kari’s performance piece Close the Door, a provocative commentary on privacy, accessibility, and public sanitation. The diorama depicts a hyper-detailed, intimate bathroom setting, complete with an ornate, semi-enclosed design and a 3D-printed miniature of Kari in a candid, vulnerable moment.

Both a humorous and unsettling commentary, the diorama serves as a physical artifact of Kari’s performance practice, tying together themes of surveillance, agency, and equity. A portion of proceeds from sales supports Camillus House and Pridelines, extending the artwork’s impact beyond the gallery space.
